This revolutionary reinvention of the hit musical Cabaret rocked Broadway in 1998 and ran for nearly six years! Cabaret, co-directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall, brings the seedy glamour of the legendary Kit Kat Klub to New York. Presented in a true cabaret-like atmosphere, it opened March 19, 1998 to rave reviews at the newly renovated and named Kit Kat Klub (formerly Henry Miller Theater) on 43rd street. In November of 1998, Cabaret moved to the legendary Studio 54 on 54th Street.
Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brooke Shields, Neil Patrick Harris, Molly Ringwald, Jon Secada, Melina Kanakaredes, Raul Esparza, Mary McCormack, Michael Hall, Susan Egan, Adam Pascal, Joely Fisher, Vance Avery, Lea Thompson, Matt McGrath, Katie Finneran, Gina Gershon, Deborah Gibson, Kate Shindle, Jane Leeves and John Stamos all later performed the roles that won both Alan Cumming and Natasha Richardson a Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award.
Cabaret closed on January 4, 2004 after nearly 2,400 performances, making it the second longest musical revival in Broadway history.
