Spring Gala 2004
On April 26th, Roundabout hosted its annual Gala at the fabulous new Mandarin Oriental Hotel. With a backdrop of glittering city lights, more than 400 guests gathered to pay tribute to this year’s honorees, John Kander and Fred Ebb. The evening’s highlight was a star-studded tribute to the songwriting team behind Roundabout’s biggest hit, Cabaret, and so many other classic musicals. The legendary pair was presented with the Jason Robards Award, followed by a spectacular night of song. Among the celebrities performing the songs of Kander and Ebb were Jason Alexander, Brent Barrett, Joel Grey, John Benjamin Hickey, Marin Mazzie, Daniel McDonald, Debra Monk, Bebe Neuwirth, Michelle Pawk, Brenda Pressley, Natasha Richardson, Chita Rivera, Jim Walton, Karen Ziemba, and, of course, the one and only Liza Minelli. The event was a huge success, raising $950,000 to support Roundabout.
