Dear friend,

I am thrilled to welcome you back to Broadway after such an unprecedented and difficult time. We at Roundabout are so grateful that you have chosen to join us at Studio 54 for this exciting production of Caroline, or Change.

Roundabout was founded in 1965 as a theatre that produced revivals, and while we have broadly expanded our mission and our scope, we remain committed to that original impulse. It is our privilege to give second chances to musicals that haven’t yet gotten their due—and this revival of Caroline, or Change couldn’t be a more vivid example of why.

Caroline, or Change is one of those pieces of art that increases in importance and relevance as time goes by. In director Michael Longhurst’s words, “The show is about how we all exist together—how we should share and acknowledge our privilege, not avoid it, in order to exist in greater peace.” After this year of collective crises, between the COVID-19 pandemic and the racial reckoning experienced across the country and throughout the theatre, the remarkable work of Michael and creators Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori could not feel timelier. That it also gives us the chance to welcome London’s phenomenal Sharon D Clarke to the American stage is an extraordinary bonus.

I look forward to seeing you at the theatre!

Sincerely,

Todd Haimes
